Author-Children's Books
Jennifer Aicher Powell earned degrees in science from the University of Miami and worked for NOAA before accepting a position to help establish a Marine Science program in American Samoa. She spent six years there as both a faculty member and administrator. Back in the US, she briefly worked at a freshwater laboratory before returning to oceanography after the major oil spill in 2010.
Now based in Pensacola, she enjoys running a hobby farm and has been self-publishing since 2015. She began with cozy mysteries before branching into children's books. Many of her children's stories draw inspiration from a preschool class she has taught since 2014.
She publishes under multiple names, including Jennifer Aicher, J. Louise Powell, Kris Peterson, Jefferson Archer, and Susan de Lais.
A seasoned traveler, Jennifer, has visited over 30 countries, circumnavigated the globe multiple times, and holds the rare distinction of being a double golden shellback. Looking ahead, she plans to continue her work in oceanography, focusing on carbon dioxide in seawater.
